Although RNA readily aggregates in vitro, cells maintain it in functional folded states, revealing a fine balance between productive folding and harmful self-interactions. My work combines single-molecule experiments and computational modeling to uncover how RNA biophysics influences cellular organization, immune defense, and genome evolution.
